Hazards and safety
Compressed gas. In high concentration it may cause asphyxiation.
Applications
Kr Applications
1. In lasers for eye surgery. In double/triple window glazing with high insulation properties.
2. Also used in some types of photographic flashes, Krypton mixes with Argon as the fill gas of energy saving flourescent lamps.
Xe Applications
1. Xenon enhanced computerized topography and as magnetic resonance is used for measuring blood flows in the brain and respiratory tract.
2. Xenon is used in field of anaesthesia.
3. High intensity lamps used in hospital operating theaters rely on Xenon.
4. Also in flash lamps, laser application.
5. Xenon can be used as direct treatment for non-breathing new born babies.
Storage and handling
Suck back of water into the container must be prevented. Do not allow back feed into the container. Use only the properly specified equipment which is suitable for this product, its supply pressure and temperature. Contact your gas supplier if in doubt. Refer to supplier’s container handling instructions. Keep container below 50°C in a well ventilated place.
